I was delighted to discover today there is a strong possibility that the Vera Stanhope novels of Ann Cleeves might be televised, beginning with Hidden Depths (See here for more about Vera and the location of the stories.) There's more information about the possible ITV production in Ann Cleeves's web diary - apparently the scriptwriter has been up to Northumberland to look round 'Vera-land' and his on his second draft.
In the light of my previous post on the Shetland Isles I must also be sure to look out for Ann's short story, to be broadcast in the 3.30pm story slot on Radio 4 in April, set in Shetland and featuring Detective Jimmy Perez. There's also a link on her website to an interview about Red Bones, the third in the Shetland Quartet, which is published next week.
This is all excellent news. I wonder who will be cast as Vera? I've put some suggestions in the poll to the right - if you've got other ideas, please post them below!

Steph, I would have loved to vote if it were not for the fact that I am still waiting for the two Vera Stanhope books I ordered 12 days ago. Even though I feel the world is so small when I read people´s comments on my blog, the real UK must be terribly far away.
I have Crow Road to read, having enjoyed the first two Shetland books. I have "sight unseen" as it were voted for Janet McTeer because I thought she was the only good thing about a recent crime fiction TV mini-series I saw. It was pretty awful so I am not going to remember anything useful like the title, but the main character was called Hunter and it was a completely dotty (to put it politely) plot about anti-abortionists ritually killing children. Anyway, she was the only good thing about it, so although I have not yet read Vera S, I have voted for her!
It’s actually informative stuff about crime news. I really prefer to read. There is a lot of helpful information within your post.....Thanks for post. my best regards guys!

Great article, I hope you can add something else but, I think you covered everything there. I would say freelancing is quite hard especially if you are not used to working on your own, can be quite hard to motivate yourself . . . we all know what it is like to stare at the monitor. 23jj
Great book, I wonder why nobody knows it around the world, what a shame, seriously.
It is great to know that an amazing book is getting a tv program. Also it is quite odd that it happens.
I am thoroughly convinced in this said post. I am currently searching for ways in which I could enhance my knowledge in this said topic you have posted here. It does help me a lot knowing that you have shared this information here freely
